This course will cover the essentials that practitioners should consider when addressing back pain. Included will be foundational principles of neuromuscular therapy, trigger point formation theories and treatment, the anatomy of the region, treatment techniques, and conditions that warrant caution. This course is a must for any serious practitioner! 16 CE Hours.

Creating Relationships that Work: Ethics and Communication in Private Practice
This session focuses on one of the most important factors in building strong relationships: communication skills. It introduces the fundamentals of SAVI®, a powerful and comprehensive system for understanding and improving communication. Here, participants will learn how to apply SAVI® principles to their own professional communication challenges, with a focus on the ethical issues involved in setting policies and maintaining boundaries. You will practice a variety of helpful strategies for intervening in unproductive discussions and fostering positive, satisfying interactions. 8 CE Hours.

Chi Nei Tsang 101: Taoist Abdominal Massage
Chi Nei Tsang, Taoist Abdominal Massage, addresses the health of the internal organs. This 4 hour introductory class offers an overview of CNT and how the internal organs are viewed from a CNT approach. Therapists will learn and practice massage techniques to open the breath and clear the large intestine. 4 CE Hours.

Managing “Adult” Student Behavior and Matching Your Teaching to their Learning Styles
Analyze current behaviors confronted in and out of the classroom and learn new strategies to manage unprofessional behavior. Standard professional conduct is not immediately grasped by college students, and the end result of this session is a list of definable behaviors and why they are expected in the professional environment. In addition, participants will identify learning modalities and take part in collaborative learning techniques that will increase the positive energy in the classroom. 4 CE Hours. Teachers Track.

Integral Anatomy: Layers, Relationships and Continuity (Repeat)
This course consists of a lecture and slideshow presentation documenting original laboratory research of a novel approach to human anatomy which is consistent with the holistic body philosophy of the massage field, based on an emphasis on the layers, relationships and continuities of human form over conventional regional approaches. 4 CE Hours.

Anatomy of a Case Report
This class will actively “dissect” a sample case report to examine how this format is constructed. Sample posters from the poster session will also be examined to identify key features and strategies for sharing information. Participants will leave with enhanced skills to participate in the Student or Practitioner Case Report Contest and/or to submit posters for subsequent Poster Sessions. 4 CE Hours. Research Track

Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorder also mimics symptoms such as neck and back pain. Deep Tissue Massage with Meridian Awareness
Expand your anatomical and energetic knowledge of the body. This form of massage incorporates the skillful manipulation and palpation of myofascial tissue, muscles and Meridian channels. In this course, we will utilize body landmarks and muscular references as our guide in moving the body toward physical and energetic balance.

Craniosacral Overview
The craniosacral system is in a central position to affect health and disease, and as healthcare practitioners trained to use compassionate touch to boost well being, massage therapists are in an ideal position to integrate CranioSacral Therapy into their practices. This session will present the history, concepts and theory behind this approach. You’ll learn how to develop the light-touch palpation skills that bring about profound results and practice performing whole-body evaluations using the craniosacral rhythm as a guide. 4 CE Hours.
