mtj is Golden

mtj was recognized on June 14, 2007 with three awards from the Society of National Association Publications (SNAP). The publication received two gold EXCEL awards in the categories of General Excellence and Most Improved for an association magazine with a circulation of 50,000 to 100,000. It also received one of only four EXCEL Extra! Awards, which was presented to mtj for its outstanding innovation in association publishing. EXTRA! award recipients are chosen from among all the EXCEL winners “for pushing the edge of the envelope further and taking bold chances to innovate in an ever-changing publishing environment.”

“The entire package holds together from cover to cover,” the EXCEL judges noted. “The magazine flawlessly rises above its inception to present its material in a clean, calm, well-paced fashion. This magazine raises the bar to incredible heights—not only for this publication and [AMTA], but for the entire industry.”

More than 150 awards were handed out in Washington, D.C., at the SNAP EXCEL annual competition, which recognizes exemplary work in association publishing. This year a record number of entries were received. The EXCEL program judges more than 1,000 magazines, newsletters, scholarly journals, electronic publications and websites in the areas of editorial quality, design, general excellence and most improved, among others.
