Executive

Elizabeth Lucas, CAE
Executive Director
In partnership with the Association’s President, leads the association’s efforts to serve AMTA members while advancing the massage profession.  As chief executive officer, represents AMTA to the members, industry, representatives of government, regulatory agencies, financial community and general public. Works with the Board to develop and recommend short and long range goals. Oversees strategic and annual planning and is responsible for their execution.

Responsible for directing the departments and areas that focus on delivering member value and increasing the benefits and services that AMTA offers.  Reporting departments are marketing, member experience, knowledge transfer and the web and database area.   These departments work together and with others to ensure that AMTA members have a first-rate experience

Chief Financial Officer

Primary responsibilities include determining and supplying the financial information requirements of the AMTA as well as providing feedback on the actual or projected financial effects of its actions. Manage the internal control structure of the AMTA and the Massage Therapy Foundation, as well as manage the relationships with financial institutions, investment advisors, auditors, insurance company, technology consultants and attorneys when appropriate. Responsible for managing and directing the activities of the accounting, finance, office services, information technology and human resources areas.

Responsible for the management of the Executive Office. Assist the Board of Directors and National Volunteers. Acts as staff liaison to the National Bylaws Standing Committee. Handles member’s inquiries regarding National Board of Directors Meetings and other Board related activities, materials and published information.

Oversees the volunteer development program, including national leadership orientation, the chapter volunteer orientation program (CVOP), staff liaison training and volunteer e-learning. Supervises staff who oversee the House of Delegates, nominations and elections, AMTA awards program and volunteer recruitment efforts. Staff liaison to the board assessment workgroup.

Responsible for the National Elections and the House of Delegates Meeting held during the national convention. Acts as staff liaison to the House of Delegates Operations Committee, the Commission on Candidacy and Election Commission.

Assists with general functions of Governance and Volunteer Development such as CVOP, HOD, Elections and National Committees. Works with Chapters and outside organizations to create volunteer opportunities for members to be posted on the AMTA Volunteer Connections website. Receives signed codes of conduct from all elected and appointed volunteers. Sends Anniversary Pins to members. Staff Liaison to National Awards Operational Committee.

Government & Industry Relations

Oversees Association Government Relations program including research, legislative tracking, strategic planning, training, legislative outreach, and chapter consultations. Also responsible for the administration of the Law and Legislation Assistance Program as well as the Grievance Commission. Supervises and manages Association relationships, programs and memberships with key industry stakeholder including health care, spa, and consumer quality.

Government Relations Manager
Recommends, implements and manages strategies of the Government Relations Program. Responsible for oversight of the federal government relations program. Provides leadership to chapter volunteers, staff and standing committees to ensure positive government relations climate for the profession while delivering high value to the members. Oversees the LLAP grants program and the Grievance process, serving as the key staff contact for the GROC (administers LLAP) and the Grievance Commission.

Analyze, evaluate, and report on proposed and pending state legislative and regulatory action and trends. Research regulations and statutes pertaining to the practice of massage therapy. Provide guidance to volunteers involved in legislative and regulatory activities.

Provides support throughout the office as directed by the Office Manager.  Responsible for pick up, sorting and distributing the mail on a daily basis. Supports the entire staff by assisting them in their shipping needs, ensuring the kitchen and the mailroom are stocked and organized for easy use, keeping the library in working order and by obtaining items from storage. Also distributes all deliveries, faxes, and new office materials throughout the office.
