Evanston, IL – The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) has won a
2002 Outstanding Website WebAward from the Web Marketing Association (WMA)
for the quality of its Web site content. The award recognizes AMTA’s Web
site for being beyond the standard of excellence.
“We are delighted that our Web site has been
recognized as offering quality information,” said AMTA Executive Director
Elizabeth Lucas. “We work hard to make our Web site informative to the
public and a benefit to our 46,000 members,” she said.
AMTA’s Web site was launched in September 1997
and is constantly updated and revised to make it relevant to AMTA members
and the public. The site offers information to consumers about the benefits
of massage therapy and provides AMTA’s Find a Massage Therapist national
locator service to help consumers find qualified massage therapists near
them. Another popular feature is the online Massage Room that provides
consumer tips, an online stress test, a library, and stress-relieving
activities. The WebAward is an annual
award that judges against peer sites within an industry and against an
Internet standard. Judges are from the marketing, advertising, PR, and
design professions from around the U.S.
In 2001, AMTA’s Web site won several awards,
including the Merit Award from the National Health Information Awards
program (organized by the Health Information Resource Center) for the
quality of its content. ###
